Lindiwe Sisulu: “ANC Needs to be Rescued”

September 24, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 25-09-2017

Human Settlements Minister and Presidential hopeful Lindiwe Sisulu says while the African National Congress (ANC) is the only party that can solve the country’s problems and take it forward, the organization needs to be rescued.

Sisulu was delivering the keynote address at the Ahmed Kathrada Heritage Day banquet at the Image Lifestyle Centre in Fordsburg on Sunday.

The foundations festivities on Heritage Day were about honouring the history of resistance, reconciliation, and reconstruction in South Africa.

Sisulu praised Ahmed Kathrada for being the unifying resistance against the corruption which has plagued the ANC, but questioned if it’s too late for the party to self-correct.

She says South Africans wait with bated breath to see what creature will be born out of the party’s forthcoming national elective conference which is expected to take place in December.

“I can assure you, with certainty that whatever creature comes out of that, we will cope together all of us and make sure that we give our people hope because nothing else will ever help us.”

Sisulu says the ANC also has the mechanisms to solve the corrupt activities of officials that have emerged in the Gupta emails.

She says she will be writing to the ANC disciplinary committee chair asking for steps to be taken against those named in the Gupta leaks.

“Derek Hannekom why are we not taking all of these people to the disciplinary courts of the ANC. We must, we should. I will be writing a letter to you tomorrow.”

Sisulu says South Africans are aware that Kathrada before he died wanted a better and renewed ANC, an ANC he fought for and a party devoid of any factionalism, greed and corruption.
