Dr Ngwako Stephen Sebopetsa, principal of a school in Limpopo, was named the winner of the Global Principals’ Award for excellent leadership acumen, winner’s spirit, significant work, and contribution in the field of education. The Principal of the Rathaga Primary School in Rakwadu 1 Circuit, Mopani East District, received his award via a live Facebook broadcast last month.
Dr Sebopetsa, the national winner of the National Teaching Awards in South Africa, spoke to Radio Islam International. Having won the national competition, he was allowed to participate in the global leg held in India.
Responding to the question on what his recipe to success was, he said, “The background of a person does not determine his destination.” He attributed hard work and commitment to his success.
Advising aspirant teachers, Dr Sebopetsa said that all professions begin with teaching. To be an excellent leader and teacher, one should aspire to be the best at what you do and not emphasise earning a big salary.
He has authored a book called “Conversations with Myself” that motivates and empowers the reader, particularly regarding our purpose in life and the importance of being the best you can.
