LG Launches V40 ThinQ Smartphone with 5 Cameras in SA

LG Electronics has launched its new flagship smartphone in South Africa that boasts not only one, two, three or four, but five cameras.  

At a function at the Four Seasons Hotel on Wednesday, LG’s new V40 ThinQ certainly set the bench mark for other manufacturers in a premium device that’s sure to make waves.

The LGV40 features a 6.4-inch OLED (1,440 x 3,120) edge to edge screen with a notch, 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage expandable with a micro SD card and is powered by a 3,300mAh battery.

The internals includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and ships with Android 8.1 Oreo.

However it’s the camera’s that has got everyone talking and garnered a lot of attention.

The LGV40 ThinQ has three rear cameras, a 16MP f/1.9 wide-angle + 12MP f/1.5 standard + 12MP f/2.4 telephoto while the front camera is 8MP f/1.9 standard + 5MP f/2.2 wide.

LG Managing Director Chi Yoon Kim says the LGV40 ThinQ is the ultimate content creator.

“With five built in camera’s the LG V40 ThinQ is the ultimate content creator for South African consumers, delivering innovation at an ultra-affordable price point.”

The device will initially be exclusive to Vodacom from the 7th of February and will be priced from R12,499 cash or R599 per month on a Smart XS+ package.

Vodacom will bring in the single-SIM variant of the device in Moroccan Blue with a matt finish, and will bundle it with the LG K9 on a Flexi 60 post-paid package.

LG says for an additional R199, customers can bolt the LG Hybrid smart watch W7 which has been developed in partnership with Soprod SA of Switzerland on the V40 ThinQ contract.

LG first unveiled the V40 ThinQ in October 2018, and released it in the United States later that month.
