The principal of Lenasia Secondary School has urged parents of pupils to remain calm following a message on social media calling for protest action over the lack of transformation at the school.
A social media message was widely circulated on Whatsapp on Thursday saying that the South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) is planning a march at Lenz High to remove the current principal and replace her with a new head of the school.
The message further claims that SADTU`s plan is to turn Lenz High into an all-black school, that the institution is racist and black students are being allegedly ill-treated.
Principal of Lenz High Hawa Bibi Munshi said: “The only comment I can make is that the Gauteng Education Department (GDE) is aware of the rumours and they are dealing with the issue and for parents to exercise calm and restraint.”
