Lenmed to Review Policies After 1-Year-Old Baby Given Incorrect Medication

October 26, 2016

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 26-10-2016

The Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital (Lenmed) in Lenasia has told Radio Islam it will be reviewing all policies at the facility following the administration of incorrect medication.

It emerged today that a nurse at Lenmed allegedly dispensed medication intended for another patient to a 1-year-old baby.

In a statement Lenmed says the nursing employee failed to follow the process of dispensing medication.

“There have been no serious adverse effects, however the hospital accepts full responsibility and has commenced with progressive disciplinary action with the employee concerned.”

Lenmed says it will be instituting further checks to ensure that there will be no recurrence of the incident.
