As South Africa reached the threshold of the third wave of the Coronavirus recording more than 9,000 cases on Thursday, the Lenmed Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital in Lenasia says it is witnessing a sharp consistent increase in COVID-19 positive hospital admissions,

With an increase in Coronavirus infections in the country, on Wednesday Wits University director of vaccines and infectious diseases Professor Shabir Madhi told Radio Islam the third wave is yet to peak in epicentre Gauteng and has urged people to take precautions.

With a number of healthcare facilities overwhelmed by the increase in hospitalizations, the Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital’s Michelle Naidoo says the facility is moving into the third wave with increased confidence garnered from the experience and knowledge of the first two waves.

“The entire team at the hospital , our doctors, nurses and support employees are dedicated and committed to treating our communities with Lenmed warmth and compassion and doing absolutely everything possible to health those within our care as quickly as possible.”

Naidoo says due to the current limits of capacity at all healthcare facilities in Gauteng, people must strictly adhere to all protocols to stay safe including properly wearing the face mask, maintaining social distancing and hand washing and sanitizing.
