A businessman from Lenasia south, south of Johannesburg has been killed after an armed robbery at about 6:30pm on Thursday Gauteng police said.

“There was an armed robbery where one person was shot and killed after some people were trying to rob him, he died at the scene,” police spokesperson Kay Makhubela said.

According to a source, the businessman was on his way to Lenasia with two other passengers when they were accosted by a group of men at a stop street on the corner of Cosmos and the K43.

“They were trying to grab the bag from one of the passengers and he resisted a little, so the guy took out a gun and shot.”

The source said the bullet grazed the passenger but hit the businessman fatally wounding him.

“We are investigating a case of murder and no one has been arrested yet,” said Makhubela.
