Lenasia residents are outraged after yet another major accident on Nirvana Drive.

It’s understood the collision happened after a motor vehicle jumped the stop street on Hummingbird Avenue in Extension 1 and crashed into a taxi on Tuesday morning.

According to Saaberie Chishty Ambulance, fifteen injured commuters were found scattered around and attended to on scene by paramedics upon arrival.

One resident told Radio Islam, Nirvana Drive is notorious for accidents and has urged the MEC for Roads and Transport in Gauteng Ismail Vadi to address the situation before lives are lost.

“We’re having this complaint every day when it’s time for salaah, morning time, school time. Cars don’t obey the rules. We can’t sleep, there’s accidents happening on the bend here, every weekend, every night, we just can’t take it now. We even signed a petition and handed it over to brother Ismail Vadi’s department, nothing’s been happening.”

Radio Islam Zeenat Nagdee who lives on Nirvana Drive says accidents are regular occurrence on the stretch of road.

“Even in the middle of the night, we hear all this accidents happening. We are gone so immune to it and it’s so dangerous for us to come and cross over the road.”

Residents have urged MEC Vadi to install a stop sign, robots or even speed breakers to curb the scourge of accidents on Nirvana Drive.

While the exact cause of Tuesday’s accident is unknown, authorities were on scene for further investigations.
