August 11, 2016

Faizel Patel, 2016-08-11

The Lenasia police say they have established a task team to deal with the high number of criminal incidents at the railway station in the suburb.

The robot at the corner of Rose Avenue and Nirvana Drive opposite the station has become a notorious hotspot for smash and grabs, hijackings and other criminal activities.

In recent months a number of people have complained about the spike in crime in the area with many complaining that the police were not doing enough to eradicate the scourge.

The police’s Hector Netshivodza says a number of suspects have been arrested by plain clothes police officers who have been deployed to the area.
“It’s no longer a hotspot to us as we’ve established out police officers in plain clothes. They are undercover so we managed to arrest three of them and they are no longer in our area.

Netshivodza says the people must not be afraid to point out criminal elements because they are committing crime which affects the community,
