December 06, 2016

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 06-12-2016

Lenasia police have promised residents better service following the deployment of three additional officers to the police station.

The new recruits were appointed last week and include Lt. Col. Velapi Samson Majaja as detective, Lt. Col. Boseletso Anna Sevuba as head of finance and Col. Leseba Tlolane in the visible policing portolio.

Station commander Brigadier Ngwako Godfrey Mashao says Lenasia police station is currently doing well in term of their performance in reducing crime in the area.

Mashao says the relationship between the police,  the community policing forum (CPF) and the community plays a vital role in eradicating crime.

“We need ensure that before even the criminals started to have this desire to commit crime, the environment itself must not be conducive and to do that is to ensure that communities out there need to be the eyes and ears of the police and that we work together.”

Mashao says Lenasia police station has also excelled in its service to residents.

“For the past three months, as a police station in the Soweto area, we have occupied position 1 in terms of where they rate stations in terms of performance. This is the result of a collective effort.”

Mashao says he believes that with the passage of time Lenasia will become a safer place for all residents.
