Lenasia police have taken three teenagers aged between 14 and 17 into custody following a shooting outside MH Joosub Secondary School in Lenasia.
Two learners were shot and wounded in the incident on Tuesday after one of the suspects who was playing with a firearm when it went off wounding the victims.
Police say they discovered that the firearm was in possession of the three boys before a shot was fired.
Spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini says they are investigating cases of attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm
“The firearm a 7.65 was found in possession of one of the boys and it has been established that it belongs to his father who will be investigated to establish whether he’s fit to possess a firearm.”
Earlier ambulance service Saaberie Chishty confirmed that the two wounded learners were taken to medical facilities for further care.
