Lenasia Police have arrested four suspected gang members involved in a string of robberies and hijackings in the suburb, south of Johannesburg.

The suspects were pushing a white Mazda when they were stopped by the Lenasia police’s tactical team who were patrolling the area, according to the Rising Sun.

Police discovered two unlicensed firearms and ammunition in the vehicle and subsequently discovered more ammunition at one of the suspect’s house later.

Lenasia police spokesperson Captain Hector Netshivhodza said the suspects had borrowed the vehicle from a friend.

The suspects, aged between 31 and 39, were arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and are due to appear in court soon.
