Lenasia CPF Urges Lenasians Not to Attend Protest & Unrest Scenes with Children

July 15, 2021

Faizel Patel – 15/07/2021

The Lenasia Community Policing Forum (CPF) says the suburb was relatively calm on Wednesday night amid minor reports of possible attempts of looting in certain areas.

The CPF’s Mohammad Bismillah was speaking to Radio Islam about the riots which have devastated Gauteng and KZN.

Bismillah says there were a few minor incidents that were thwarted.

“There was an incident earlier on in Anchorville where a crowd gathered and broke down a gate. Alhamdulillah we managed to respond in time and disperse the crowd. There were multiple reports throughout the night and into the early part of the morning where people were gathering. Alhamdulillah we treated every calls and sent the necessary ground crews to attend to matters.”

Bismillah  has urged the Lenasia community to act responsibly during this very difficult time.

“Last night we encountered members of the public attending scenes with their children. Shukr last night there was nothing that occurred out of it. But going forward if you attend to a scene with your children, you are comprising the lives of our crew and yourselves.”

Lenasia South was also relatively calms, but there have been reports that the Muezzin of the Imam Ahmed Raza masjid who was shot by protestors trying to enter the place of worship after looting Shoprite, Cashbuild and restaurants in the area had passed away from his injuries.
