Lawyer Wants Suspects in Lenasia Pit Bull Attack Charged

March 24, 2015

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News, 2015-03-24

The attorney for a man attacked by a pit bull terrier and assaulted by a group of men in Lenasia on Tuesday is demanding answers after those allegedly responsible for the attack were released without being charged.

Feroz Khan (43) is currently on life support and in a coma at the Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital.

It’s understood the incident happened two weeks ago after Khan went to fetch his 16-year-old son from his friend’s house where he allegedly found him intoxicated and then slapped him.

It’s alleged Khan was then severely assaulted by the men, as well as his son’s girlfriend, who started beating him with baseball bats and batons before setting the dog on him.

Attorney Yousha Tayob said police must explain why those implicated in the attack have not been charged.

“Because they were arrested and then released without charge, I need to get some answers from the police.”

Tayob said he has gathered a number of statements from witnesses to the incident.

“So the intention is to present these witnesses to the investigating officer to properly compile this docket in order for them to go and effect the arrest and subsequent prosecution and hopefully conviction of these people who perpetrated the assault.”

Tayob said a meeting with the police has been scheduled to discuss the matter. – EWN
