A KwaZulu-Natal radio station has distanced itself from comments made by a journalist who posted racist and hate speech on a social media platform.
Andile Moshoeshoe from Gagasi FM yesterday apologised for calling blacks who speak English the K word and that whites should be necklaced because of what they did to freedom fighters during apartheid.
Moshoeshoe was commenting on a Facebook post by a fellow user who said “Lumka Oliphant refuses to speak English on a radio interview.”
In a Twitter post Gagasi FM says Moshoeshoe’s claims that he’s senior political reporter is misleading as there is no such position within the radio station and the journalist is just a part time employee who provides news stories for bulletins on an adhoc basis.
Gagasai says it has taken note of the racist and hate speech comments posted by Moshoeshoe and that they will be reviewing the relationship he has with the station.
We would like to categorically distance the name of the station from any statement that Moshoeshoe makes on his personal capacity.

He doesn’t hold any full time position within the station, therefore claims that he’s a Senior Political Reporter at #GagasiFM are untrue

In light of this, we’ll be reviewing the working relationship w/ Moshoeshoe and a decision will be taken in line w/ our Values as #GagasiFM
