The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has commended Provincial Organised Crime Unit detectives for their sterling investigation after Mohammed Vahed Ebrahim was sentenced for the murder of nine-year-old Miguel Louw.

Ebrahim will serve an effective sentence of 25 years in prison after he was sentenced in the Durban High Court on Wednesday.

Louw’s disappearance touched the hearts of many in KwaZulu-Natal, who were concerned for his safety.

He went missing on 17 July 2018 after leaving his Primary School in Sydenham.

During the investigation, it was established that 46-year-old Ebrahim stole the identity document of the Louw’s mother including the little boys birth certificate using it to lure the child when he was kidnapped.

Mkhwanazi says the SAPS remains committed to bringing justice to all victims of crime in the province.

“We are glad that this heinous crime was solved and that the perpetrator will remain behind bars for a long time. We remain committed to bring justice to all victims of crime in this province.”

Mkhwanazi says they hope this sentence will give comfort to the family and everyone that demanded for justice to be served.
