African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Gwede Mantashe has confirmed that structures from Kwazulu-Natal, North West and the Free State that have been nullified will not be allowed to vote at the national conference.
Mantashe was briefing the media after the national executive committee (NEC) met for more than two hours to discuss the issue.
He also confirmed that the official start of the hotly contested gathering will only begin at 2pm on Saturday.
Mantashe says while the delegates from KZN, the North West and the Free State are already at the conference, they will be merely observers.
“They will not vote on any matter. We’re not going to try any idea that will actually contaminate the conference. That is the decision. Other issues will be discussed by the other provinces beyond the conference.”
