Hundreds of Muslims are expected to attend the KwaZulu-Natal Ijtima this long weekend.
The ijtima will take place at Tills Crescent Grounds in Overport from 23 September until 25th September 2017.
Among one of the largest gathering of Muslims in Southern Africa, the three-day event hosted by the Tabligh Jamaat was revived in 1926 by Moulana Muhammad Ilyas Khandhlawi in the rural Mewat villages surrounding New Delhi in India after he became distressed by the lack of Islamic knowledge and practice amongst people.
Radio Islams Mufti Moosagie has encouraged Muslims to attend the Ijtima saying the purpose of the event is for people to come together to listen to the talks of deen.
“Every one of us has a responsibility that is we continue to propagate the deen of Islam to ensure that Islam spreads to the far corners of the world.”
This is the second Ijtima after the gathering in Laudium in Pretoria which was held in April.
