A 12-year-old boy who was kidnapped in Lenasia, South of Johannesburg has been found unharmed and reunited with his family.
“When they (abductors) realized they are not going to get any money, they let my laaitie (son) go. I found him when I got home,” the father of the boy told Radio Islam.
The boy said his ordeal was a traumatic experience and screamed at his alleged abductors to let him go home.
The boy’s alleged abductors put him on a train bound for Lenasia Station.
“They woke me half way and they told me it was time for them to go and than I ran the whole way and I got home (sic),” said the boy.
He was kidnapped on Friday when he returned home from school.
His abductors had contacted his parent demanding thousands in cash in exchange for his life.
The police’s Kay Makhubela said the boy is undergoing trauma counseling.
“We will give ourselves time to interview the boy and get more information of where he was which might help lead us to arrest the suspect/s.”
