The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation says the struggle stalwart’s recovery from brain surgery is taking longer that his doctors had hoped for.
The 87-year-old anti-apartheid icon was admitted to a Johannesburg hospital last week for dehydration but doctors picked up a clot on the brain which was removed.
The foundations Neeshan Balton says Kathrada is experiencing severe health-related setbacks.
“His progress has been slower than what we had hoped for, but people have to bear in mind that Kathrada is 87 years old. I can give the assurance that he is fighting to get better. He did have a bout of pneumonia which has been treated as well as a few minor seizures which has also been treated.”
