The ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa is due to face head-on COGTA Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and former health minister Zweli Mkhize in the scramble for the top position in the ANC elective conference for the Presidency.

Radio Islam International discussed the road to the elective conference with political journalist Carien du Plessis and political analyst Prof Dirk Kotze.

According to Political analyst Prof Dirk Kotze, more than four-thousand delegates are to gather at NASREC in Johannesburg for the ANC’s 55th elective conference in December.

He said the conference must consist of at least 90 % of the provincial delegates chosen by their designated branches, including national executive’s committee members, the veteran’s league, the women’s league, and the youth league.

The ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa is to face head-on COGTA Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma for the second time.

However, Kotze said that Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma’s run for the Presidency for the second time and how she will present herself is an unclear question.

He added that former president Jacob Zuma had endorsed Dlamini Zuma.

Carien du Plessis said that the most extensive province, according to the allocation of branch delegates approved by the national executive committee (NEC), is KwaZulu Natal, with 817 delegates.

She said this year’s delegate number saw a decrease in Mpumalanga compared to 2017.

She added that before the conference, accusations and bashing of campaigns amongst the nominees are to happen until the day of the elective conference.

Also bidding for the Presidency is the Former health minister Zweli Mkhize.
