As the heatwave continue to affect parts of Gauteng, Joburg water has urged residents to continue maintaining level two water restrictions and use water sparingly.
The SA Weather Service issued a watch for heatwave conditions from Wednesday with the mercury expected to peak at 29 and 33 degrees across the province with minimal to no rain predicted.
Forecaster Bransby Bulo says they are considering issuing a heatwave warning.
“Temperatures will move into the lower and mid-thirties and from Wednesday they’re expected to remain in the mid-thirties until the weekend.
Joburg Waters Tidimalo Chuene has urged people to find ways to cool down without consuming too much water including using a wet cloth to cool off and staying in the shade.
“What is important for consumers to note that the recent rainfall has not increased water levels to a point where we can comfortably say we are out of danger from water shortages.”
At the same time emergency services ER24 has advised residents living in areas experiencing heatwave conditions to stay well hydrated by drinking a lot of water, to wear appropriate clothing and ensure the use of sunscreen.
“Limit participation in outdoor activities. If you plan on participating in outdoor activities, ensure you rest and keep hydrated. Remember to keep a close eye on babies, the elderly and children and ensure they stay well hydrated.
