JMPD to Take Tough Measures Against Young & Reckless Drivers in Lenasia

October 31, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 31-10-2018

The JMPD says it will be taking a tough stance against reckless drivers in Lenasia.

This comes after Joburg mayor Herman Mashaba released the City of Johannesburg’s monthly crime statistics where the JMPD provided feedback on arrests.

Mashaba plans to lobby national government to grant big metros the power to prosecute and have their own prisons.

Lenasia, among other areas have been plagued by motorists who flagrantly violate the rules of the roads which leads to fatal accidents.

Speaking to Radio Islam, the JMPD’s Wayne Minnaar says while parents purchase high performance cars for their children, the youngsters may be inexperienced to handle the vehicle without proper training.

“Unfortunately we are going to have to be harsh with these young drivers and they’re going to be arrested and they will have to be put behind bars with other hardened criminals and will have to appear before court as with any other criminal.”
