The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) has warned the public not to occupy and build shacks on illegal land or it will be demolished.

This comes after officers removed shacks from Plot 29 in Rietfontein near Lenasia South on Saturday.

The JMPD’s Wayne Minnaar says officers will take action against those who occupy land illegally.

“The structures and materials was loaded onto bylaw management trucks and taken to a JMPD pound.  Officers also removed rocks at Wimbledon Road and Falcon Road in Lenasia (South) where there was protests over demarcating of illegal land for occupation.”

Minnaar says officers will be on standby and monitoring the area closely
