Jamiatul Ulama SA Okays Measles Vaccine Under Special Circumstances

May 18, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 18-05-2017

The Jamiat Ulama South Africa says while Muslims must choose vaccines that are free of any haraam ingredients, it would be permissible to use haraam vaccines if halaal alternatives are not available or if it’s not financially bearable.

Concerns were raised last week after reports emerged that measles vaccines contained porcine.

The Jamiat says it support the roll out of the measles vaccines to prevent the spread of the virus and to minimise the harm it can cause.

It says Muslims are duty bound to protect themselves and communities from harm and that vaccination is one of the methods of preventing the spread of viruses.

The Jamiat says Muslims should place their trust in Allah and make dua for protection from all forms of illnesses and harm.
