Jamiatul Ulama South Africa has warned people to ignore fraudulent and deceitful pamphlets, posters and e-mails regarding a conference in Cape Town being distributed by an organization purporting to be from the Amr bil Mar’oof  (command to do good) and Nahiya Anil Munkir (prevent from evil) department.

“It happened with Jamiatul Ulama KwaZulu-Natal and yesterday it happened with Jamiatul Ulama South Africa where these departments spring out from nowhere which starts sending out e-mails in the name of the organization, “Secretary General of Jamiatul Ulama South Africa Moulana Ebrahim Bham said.

Moulana Bham said Jamiat KZN has distanced itself from the pamphlets and e-mails stressing that they do not have an Amr bil Mar’oof and Nahiya Anil Munkir department.

“What we do need to tell people is that, that particular e-mail and that poster that might be coming out is false, its fraud and it is a deceit. “

“Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) when he started off his prophet hood was to first establish his credibility and integrity and that is why he asked the people of Makkah…’Do you find me to be truthful or otherwise.’”

Moulana Bham reiterated that one of the first objectives of any Amr bil Mar’oof and Nahiya Anil Munkir is that it should be genuine, shun duplicity and shun fraud and deceit.

“Unfortunately the people who have taken out this pamphlet whoever they might be have started off on the basis of deceit, so how can people really take them serious.”
