Jamiat SA’s Call to Boko Haram: “Bring Back Our Girls”

May 12, 2014

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News, 2014-05-12

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa has joined the people of goodwill around the world in condemning the continuing acts of violence, killings, disruption of peace and acts of terror directed at innocent civilians such as schoolgirls that have instilled a sense of insecurity in Nigeria in general, and in Borno state in particular.

“We pray that good sense prevails and that the girls are released into safe custody of authorities so that they reunite with their families without any further harm and distress,” said the Secretary General of The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa Moulana Ebrahim Bham in a statement.

“It is our conviction that Boko Haram, the group that has reportedly claimed responsibility, is mistaken in their belief that such a strategy would advance their cause.”

“The targeting of the ordinary and defenceless people will simply prolong tension and strife among the people of Nigeria,” added Moulana Bham.

“It is our hope that a lasting political solution to the conflict is found soon.”

“West Africa needs a stable Nigeria that spearheads a continental renaissance from that region. Boko Haram tactics are an unnecessary distraction,” said Moulana Bham.
