The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa has advised masaajid committees that the regulatory return to Adjusted Alert Level 3 of COVID-19 control protocols places restrictions on gatherings which have to be taken into account, in the interest of public health and safety.
Jusa released a statement following the address by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Monday moving the country to an adjusted level three lockdown to mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus in South Africa.
In a statement, Jusa says it has noted with concern the inconsistent treatment of religious gatherings where restaurants, casinos and cinemas remain operational and yet places of worship will not be allowed for the period of at least two weeks.
“As we endeavour to engage the government on the regulations with respect to congregational prayers, we appeal to all masjid committees to meanwhile adhere to applicable regulations. The community will be advised further in due course.”
Allah I states in the Noble Qur’an: “Whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out.” (65:2) Our actions determine the conditions that Allah sends down. Together with taking all necessary precautions we should also shun vice, repent [taubah], abundantly seek forgiveness [istighfar], engage in virtuous deeds, and sincerely supplicate [du’aa] to the Almighty, so that the disease and the hardships brought by the pandemic can be lifted away from our midst.
