Jamiat SA Distributes Ifthar Meals Daily to 2,000 Syrian Families

June 21, 2016

Faizel Patel, 2016-06-21

As the world acknowledged World Refugee Day yesterday, the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa says it will continue to assist in the alleviation of the suffering of thousands of displaced refugees.

The council of Muslim Theologians has been distributing more than two thousand iftar meals to Syrian families in the city of Darkoush in Idlib province North West of Syria since the beginning of Ramadan.

Jamiatul Ulama’s Ml Bilal Vaid says the Syrian conflict which has entered its sixth year has left half the population displaced with many suffering abject poverty.

“We know it’s the blessed month of Ramadan in which Muslim’s throughout the world share in these moments and we learn in Quran & Hadith to share in the pain of others, so the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa has undertaken a project to provide ifthar meals to the refugees and the needy people inside Syria.”Jamiat Syria Iftaar Distribution

Ml Vaid says there is a hope they can continue with the feeding scheme after the blessed month of Ramadan.

“We encourage our listeners and Muslim community to pour out their hearts and to consider at that time when they are enjoying a sumptuous meal, to consider those less fortunate who are not sure where their next meal is going to come from and who are not sure what the next day is going to bring and let us share whatever little we have Allah will reward us immensely.”

Ml. Vaid says the Jamiat is also in the process of supporting the construction of an orphan village in the city of Reyhanli in Turkey along the border of Syria which will cater for more than a thousand Syrian children who have been orphaned by the ongoing civil war.

The Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said that a person who feeds a fasting person, he will get the full reward of the fast of that person.
