iStore Confirms SA MacBook Pro Owners Eligible for Battery Replacement

April 26, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 26-04-2018

The iStore says Macbook Pro owners in South Africa can also be part of Apple’s battery replacement programme.

Apple is offering free worldwide battery replacements on MacBook Pro’s following a number of component failures on the computers.

It says certain 13-inch MacBook Pro laptops without the Touch Bar, made between October 2016 and 2017, have a component that could cause the computer’s built-in battery to expand.

In a statement, iStore says the battery replacement program is for specific serial numbers manufactured between specific dates (October 2016 and October 2017).

“Customers would need to check their serial numbers on the website, if their device qualifies for the program, they have to then do an online booking for a repair at iStore.”

Apple has not given any indication on its support page of the actual number of MacBooks affected by the problem.
