An Israeli Air Force pilot was killed after returning airstrike mission in the Gaza Strip.
Haaretz is reporting that the 34-year-old pilot ejected from the F16I jet after bombing several areas in Gaza at it came under attack after a rocket reportedly fired from the Palestinian enclave exploded in the Israeli border city of Sderot.
A navigator who was also in the aircraft successfully ejected and escaped the incident unharmed.
The F-16I burst into flames following the ejection of the crew.
The pilot who was killed was identified as Ohad Cohen Nov who recently assumed the position of squadron deputy commander.
The Israeli Air Force’s Amir Eshel says a team of investigators would determine the details of the incident.
