“Islam & Muslims Not to Blame,” – Mike Haines

September 16, 2014

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News, 2014-09-16

The brother of David Haines, the British hostage murdered by Isil said he does not blame Islam or Muslims for the killing.

“We are seeing more and more radicalisation in every walk of life. It is not a race, religion or political issue, it is a human issue,” Mike Haines told British media.

“I have become aware of a number of verses in the Qur’an that I feel particularly apt at this time.”

His voice breaking with emotion, Haines read out a passage from the Qur’an saying:

“Since good and evil cannot be equal, repel thou evil with something that is better.” – (Qur’an Surah Haameem As-Sajdah Verse 34)

He added: “The Muslim faith is not to blame for Isil, nor is it the fault of people of Middle Eastern descent.

Aid worker Haines was kidnapped in Syria in March 2013.

His murder was revealed in a video released late on Saturday by fighters from Isil, a group that has taken over a vast territory in Iraq and Syria in recent months.
