Kwazulu Natal has been pounded by rain, causing damage, injuries, and loss of life. Images shared on social media showed swamped vehicles on the road in the area. The N2 near the city’s old airport is also flooded, with motorists warned to drive carefully in the vicinity…

Meanwhile, the area of Isipingo Beach has been cut off from assistance as the rain has caused the suburb to become an island without electricity. Surrounded by water more than 2 metres deep in parts, many had to be rescued via boat and helicopter.

Brother Hussain Moola from Isipingo Beach spoke to Radio Islam International and described how they had to rescue children and pregnant women, elderly and ill people using residents’ boats and breaking into buildings to ensure people were taken to safety. [WATCH]

He thanked the Al Imdaad organisation, which flew in supplies, including chronic medications, blankets and hygiene packs.

Sadly, Brother Gora Seedat, who was afflicted with cancer, passed away, and due to the situation, his funeral was hampered. But Brother Hussain said they were hoping to have the Al Imdaad helicopter come through to collect the janazaah for burial outside the area.

He also spoke of the number of people coming through for help after losing their homes and belongings and suffering from hypothermia. However, he also praised the local community as they banded together to provide food and assistance. Schools and madrassahs had also opened their doors to house those displaced.

Brother Hussain requested dua for the people in KZN who have been affected by the flooding.
