ISIL chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi killed in Syria

October 28, 2019

Husain Mohamed, Radio Islam News – 28.10.2019

US President Donald Trump has confirmed that ISIL/ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed by US forces in a military operation in Syrias northwest Idlib province.

It is said that al-Baghdadi was killed after being trapped in a tunnel and igniting an explosive vest during the raid. The explosion killed himself as well as three of his children.

President Donald Trump addressed the nation, saying that capturing Baghdadi was a priority of his administration.

“Capturing and Killing Baghdadi has been the top national security priority of my administration. US special operations forces executed a dangerous and daring night raid in North-western Syria and accomplished their mission in grand style.”

Trump also confirmed that no US soldiers were lost in the operation.

“No personnel were lost in the operation while a large number of Baghdadis fighters and companions were killed with him.”

Trump concluded his speech by saying that he will now focus on capturing Baghdadis successors.

The killing of Baghdadi came at a great time for Trump as he is campaigning for his re-election in 2020 while being hindered in many impeachment proceedings.

Some experts are saying Baghdadis death is as big as or even bigger than that of Osama bin Laden for the United States.
