Iranian Revolutionary Guards Commander Killed at Iraq-Syria Border

December 01, 2020

A commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards has been killed in an air strike at the Iraq-Syria border. Arab News reports that the killing had taken place at the weekend, sometime between Saturday and Sunday.

Iraqi security and local militia could not confirm the identity of the commander. However, they did confirm he had been killed along with three other men who were traveling in a vehicle with him.

According to Arab News two Iraqi security officials separately said that the vehicle, which had been carrying weapons across the Iraqi border, had been hit after entering Syrian territory.

Just days ago, Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was assassinated in Tehran. Israel is suspected to have been behind Fakhrizadeh’s killing. Arab News reports that air raids had been launched by rogue state Israel against a wide range of Syrian and Iranian targets, in Syria, last week. It appears that Israel intends to pursue a policy of striking Iranian targets in the region.

Meanwhile, in January, Iranian military chief, Qassem Soleimani, was killed in an assassination by the United States.
