The Imams and executive committee of Masjid Ul Ansaar in Lakefield Benoni say the madrasah at the masjid will be closed as a security precaution for the rest of the third term following a fire at the place of worship.
It’s understood the fire started this morning at the masjid and spread to the Madrassah.
The committee says the cause of the fire and extent of the damage it yet to be determined.
Speaking to Radio Islam, Imam Ml Anees Munshi, says while the Salaah at the Masjid will continue as normal, the madrassah will only resume next term.
“There’s absolutely no need for any panic. We thank and praise Allah Ta’aala, the damage was contained as it could have been much worst. Inshaa Allah, with the grace, mercy and assistance of Allaah Ta’aala, the damage will be assessed and the restoration process will begin as soon as possible.”
Ml Munshi has requested the Muslim community for their dua’s and cooperation.
