Intermittent Power Cuts to Carry On For the Next FIVE Years…

March 18, 2019

Radio Islam International – 2019/03/18

An energy expert says that he predicts the current power cuts to continue for at least the next five years.

Ted Blom was speaking to Radio Islam in an interview on Monday, where he said that Eskom needs to sign a long term coal agreement.

“Reason being, it takes five years to open up a new coal mine, Eskom has undertaken to open up 40 coal mines since 2007 under Brian Darmas and it has opened up exactly zero.”

Blom adds that the tariff increase given to Eskom by NERSA is irregular.
