Indonesia Air Crash Deeply Tragic Event

November 01, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 01-11-2018

An Asia Pacific correspondent has told Radio Islam the crash of an airliner in Indonesia is an extremely tragic event.

All 189 people on board flight JT610 of budget airline Lion Air died when ground staff lost contact with the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft early on Monday, 13 minutes after it had left the airport in Jakarta, the capital.

Indonesia has stepped up its search for passengers deploying underwater beacons to trace the flight’s black box recorders in a bid to uncover why an almost-new plane crashed minutes after take-off.

Speaking to Radio Islam, Kiru Naidoo says the deadliest aviation incident in Indonesia’s history is a great tragedy in the Asia-Pacific region.

“So far just one person has been identified from fingerprints and there’s debris and human body parts that regrettably strewn all over the crash sites. So a deeply tragic turn of events in Indonesia.”

Meanwhile Lion Air has sacked its technical director.

The company says its dismissal of Muhammad Asif had come on the orders of the transport ministry.
