Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design Now Available in SA

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei together with Porsche have launched the  Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design in South Africa on Wednesday.

The high-end smartphone which costs a whopping R 26,459 and is exclusive to mobile network provider MTN

It has a 6-inch OLED 2K curved-at-the-sides screen and also features a Dual SLS (super linear system) speakers with DOLBY ATMOS, and is water and dust resistant.

Featuring the same technology as the recently released Huawei P20 Pro, the Huawei Mate RS rear triple camera is set in the middle while the P20 Pro is on the side. It also has 256GB internal storage as opposed to 128GB.

Other features include a Leica 40MP RGB sensor, a 20MP monochrome sensor and an 8MP sensor with a 3X telephoto lens powered by AI.

The Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design has two fingerprint sensors, one built into the screen in the front and a physical button on the back.

The device is powered by a 4 000mAh battery with super-charge capabilities and is the first flagship device by the Chinese company to enable quick wireless charging.

Likun Zhao, Vice President of Huawei Consumer Business Group Southern Africa says the Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS is all about innovation.

‘We are proud to bring the uniqueness of the device with cutting-edge technologies, which people will fall in love with.”

Like the P20, Huawei is offering one free screen repair due to accidental damage and a loan device during the repair. Consumers will also have a dedicated VIP line with support from Huawei contact centre consultants.
