Paul Mashatile has referred Dlamini-Zuma to the ANC’s disciplinary committee over her decision to vote in favour of the president’s impeachment. This is after she was one of a handful of ANC members who voted in favour of the impeachment of President Cyril Rapaphosa concerning the Phala Phala saga. Meanwhile, Ace Magashule and Bhathabile Dlamini will not be allowed to stand for any of the high rankings positions within the ANC’s top NEC committee.
In conversation with Radio Islam International North West, Professor Andre Duvenhage said that the numbers against Ramaphosa would have many more if the ballot had been secret.
“It is however, a very important signal to individuals that there are resistance against Ramaphosa and they are going to vote against him,” he added.
Meanwhile, according to Duvenhage, at the moment, there is a lot of horse trading going on. Leaders are selling their constituencies to the highest bidder.
“We can’t be sure how these people are going to vote. Without any doubt corruption and vote buying is going to play a role in the process,” he said.
