Global smartphone brand, Honor, has officially announced the launch of its latest smartphone, the Honor 8S.

The device features a 5.71-inch dewdrop full-view display, a 13MP camera with an exceptionally large F/1.8 aperture, while the front sports a 5MP selfie camera with a fixed focus lens at F/2.2 aperture.

Equipped with HONOR’s latest EMUI 9.0 OS on the Android 9.0, the Honor 8S features a 3020mAh battery capacity.

It features a distinctive on-board memory advantage over competitors in the segment, equipped with 2GB +32GB memory.

The equipped face unlock function elevates the HONOR 8S functionality with convenience elements associated with phones in a higher segment and price point.

Raymond Liu, Head of Honor South Africa, says the brand has elevated its position in the South African market since its recent inception.

“Although the tough external environment brought us some challenges, we managed the business continuity, and we will bring more products to the market soon, including high-end and budget-friendly phones.”

Retailing at R1999 and with contract prices set to start from R159 per month the device will be available through Vodacom and the retail partners from 19 July 2019.

Honor says the company is also aiming to become a pioneer in the 5G space in South Africa, and will be launching their first 5G smartphone in the country once the 5G network infrastructure is in place.
