As South Africans come to grips with a heatwave in some parts of the country, the weather service has warned the extreme temperatures will continue until tomorrow.
The mercury is expected to drop slightly on Wednesday in Gauteng while the Free State and the North West will see lower temperatures on Thursday.
The weather forecaster says the upper high pressure system in the northern parts of the country is the main cause of the heatwave.
Forecaster Christina Thaele says temperatures in Gauteng is still expected to peak at 37 degrees tomorrow.
“At the moment temperatures in Gauteng are reaching around 37 in Pretoria, 35 in Johannesburg and 34 in Vereeniging. So very hot conditions already expected already today, however we are seeing some relief coming in from Tuesday.”
