The Habbatul Ilm Trust in partnership with the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Lenasia branch officially handed over a building of five classrooms to the Imfundo secondary School in Kokosi, Fochville on Tuesday, 15 August 2017.
The Jamiatul Ulama has been implementing various programs at the impoverished school in Fochville for some time now and the latest project involved the construction of much needed classrooms.
The purpose of this project is to provide a normal, healthy and conducive learning environment for all learners.
Prior to the involvement of the Jamiatul Ulama and other organisations, children attended school on empty stomachs, which led to lapsed concentration and high absenteeism levels. And this is no longer the case.
A well-received program line-up, included speakers from the various organisations involved in the establishment and funding of the humanitarian initiative.
Secretary General of the Jamiatul Ulama of South Africa Ml Ebrahim Bham says everyone has a responsibility to do good for their community.
“We must never forget the legacy of our country, but we must also realise that no one is going to do anything for you, besides you.”
Radio Islam’s Ml Sulaiman Ravat addressed the packed court-yard of learners. He said that Muslim- based organisations understand the value of education from the perspective of religion and faith, realizing the value of education in South Africa.
“Read, recite and educate your people, because when an individual is educated, that forms the foundation for the success of the individual. But, when a community is educated, that forms a foundation for the success of a community.”
The respective classrooms have been named after the Jamiatul Ulama of South Africa, the Habbatul Ilm Trust, Radio Islam, Islamic Care Line, Lenasia Muslim School and the Lenasia Muslim Association.

One of the top learners at the school, named Ditsoanelo, said there is no way to repay what has been done for them, but what they can guarantee, is that the Imfundo Secondary School will become one of the top achieving schools in the Gauteng province.
