Guptas Threaten Gujarati Network SA with Legal Action if Religious Event Disrupted

April 16, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 16-04-2017

The Gupta family have threatened the Gujarati Network of South Africa (GNSA) with legal action against if their religious event is disrupted in anyway.

The GNSA has urged its members to boycott the Shri Bhagwat Katha recital allegedly hosted by the Gupta family at the military museum in Saxonwold starting today.

In a statement, GNSA says while the prayer is a spiritual event, the sponsors are not acting in the best interest of the country.

“It is our unequivocal view that the sponsors this event have chosen a path that is inconsistent with this part of righteousness and consistently act neither in the interests of our beloved land South Africa nor in the interest of the Gujarati community.”

It’s understood the Gupta family is sponsoring buses, meals and entertainment for hundreds of people attending the event over the eight-day period.

The Guptas’s lawyer Gert van der Merwe says if any damages are incurred by the family as a result of the network, he will consult the courts.

“If that happens one would obviously consider launching an urgent application in the form of an interdict, or if necessary – if there are any damages flowing from that – we will institute an action in the form of a summons.”
