April 12, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 12-04-2018

The Gauteng Education Department says it has decided to go live with the online application process for pupils earlier this year to ensure the department is not compromised with processes and time.

The system which will officially go live at 8am on 16 April

MEC Panyaza Lesufi says this means from Monday grade one and eight pupils can apply for the 2019 academic year.

Spokesperson Steve Mabona says the assessment and management of their work last year has indicated they must start the application process on time to avoid any problems.

“When we plan, we just want to make sure that we are not compromised in terms of time, so come the placement period we know that we would’ve placed so many pupils and if we decide to open the system probably for that might have missed the boat.

Mabona says if the demographic population of the area has changed, the school must change its medium of instruction.

“We are encouraging actually parents to apply. You can’t leave a school that is a stone’s throw away and move further, utilise money for transport and you are inconvenienced only to find that there is a school that is around you.”

Mabona says those who don’t have computers or data must apply at their local community library’s which will be open on the 16th of April.
