The guest of honour, Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani (db) did not spend too much time on the technicalities of the last hadith of Bukhari Shareef, rather focused strongly on various elements of sincerity. He thus enforced almost exclusively the link between the first and last hadith of Imam Bukhari’s (ra) compilation to the element of gifting. He mentioned that we often give gifts, citing the pleasure of Almighty Allah as our incentive, yet in the obligation sought and proffered, in ostentatious displays, in gifting at haram events or where haram takes place we contradict the meaning of earning the pleasure of Almighty Allah. He reminded the audience through a few anecdotes how simple gifts and simple acts could be empowered via Ikhlaas.
Approximately 2000 people attended the event at the Mayfair Jumuah Masjid in Johannesburg. Twelve scholars graduated. The programme podcasts are available for download.
