March 01, 2016

Sameera Baba, 2016-03-01

A 51-year-old man from George in the Eastern Cape who drugged and raped seven of his 12-year-old daughter’s friends has apologized to the victims and their families.

“I am sorry for what I have done and I hope you can forgive me one day. I know I won’t be able to (forgive myself),” the man was quoted as saying.

The man who faces more than 3 000 charges of rape and child pornography has pleaded guilty to 67 of them as part of a plea agreement.

His lawyer, Marius van Huyssteen attributed the man’s actions to depression and being separated from his wife.

Magistrate Eugenia Jacobs postponed the matter to the 14th of this month for sentencing.
