Gaza Entrepreneur Becomes the Region’s 1st Female Taxi Driver

In an economy on the brink of collapse, 39 year old Naela Abu Jibba says jobs are scarce on the Gaza Strip. According to Middle East Monitor she is taking the taxi industry in Gaza by storm as she becomes the 1st female driver the country has seen.

In the age of technology, she says her business functions online, similar to taxi giants Uber and Taxify, she does door-to-door pick ups.

The mother of five has struggled to find work on the strip, she says once she bought a car she decided to use it to bring in an income.

Most of her clients are female as she says they are more comfortable being driven by a female driver.
