Israel launched aircraft and tank attacks against Gaza early Friday morning, while Palestinian groups fired rockets from the strip.

According to the Middle East Eye, Israel’s military claimed it struck underground infrastructure and a military post belonging to Hamas, which rules the Gaza strip. Israel has struck Gaza almost every night since August 6, claiming that Hamas has failed to stop incendiary balloons from allegedly being launched across the border.

Palestinian fighters retaliated by firing rockets towards Israel, which were followed by more Israeli strikes. The MME reports that an Israeli military spokesman said none of the rockets had been intercepted by the rogue states Iron Dome system. It’s unclear where the rockets might have landed.

According to the MME there were no reports of casualties on either side.

Meanwhile, Egypt has been trying to broker a renewal of a many times renewed 2018 ‘truce’. The Egyptian delegation has been joined by Qatar’s envoy to Gaza, Mohammed al-Emadi. al-Emadi reportedly delivered an amount of $30 million in aid from Qatar to the territory. He also held talks with Israeli officials in Tel Aviv.

Israel has closed its only commercial crossing with Gaza and has barred access to the enclave by sea. Further, it has stopped all fuel imports to Gaza, resulting in the heavily blockaded territory’s only electricity plant being forced to shut down last week. It has subjected the Gaza strip to a blockade since 2007, with neighbouring Egypt helping to uphold the punitive siege.
