The South African Hajj and Umrah Council (SAHUC) says the first flights with hujjaj from various areas in South Africa have departed for the Kingdom in Saudi Arabia for Hajj 1438.
About the 2,500 South Africans will be departing for hajj which is required by all Muslims once in their lifetime if they can afford it.
This year’s hajj will take place in the first week of September.
SAHUC Secretary General Hassen Choonara has wished the hujjaj well on their journey.
“According to information we have received, the South African hujjaj will be the first hujjaj to enter the kingdom and upon arrival they will be welcomed by the Saudi authorities, the South African consulate and member of the South African Hajj and Umrah Council medical mission.”
Choonara has on behalf of all South Africans made dua that Allah accept all the efforts of the hujjaj, make their hajj easy for them, grant them forgiveness and grant them Hajj Mabroor and Maqbool.
